The wonderful sound of silence

I tried so many versions of a durso standpipe on this new tank and for the life of me couldn't get it to stop gurgling...Even with a bleeder valve on it. I noticed it was quieter with just a straight pipe on it. So for S&G's I put a 45 on it and it was REAL quiet. Then I just cut egg crate to act as a snail guard and bingo! Silence!

Then I made this to cut down the bubbles (using my durso )

Steve, is this going to be a 125 gallon display? Your last picture is very interesting - for the life of me I couldn't get a reverse durso to work to stop the bubbles - I now see why as I made the vent pipe way to short - duh. Let's see more pics when you have time.
