tips on placing BTA

Division Champs
I realize its going to go where it is happiest but any tips are appreciated. At the moment it is in a tall quart container in my sump.TIA

I would place it near or under a rock on the sand, my RBTAs seems to stay in one place in a similar location.....maybe cut back on flow until it attaches...........

I got my first BTA a month or so ago and spent some time learning his likes/dislikes in a 10 gallon isolation tank with a clarkii. He likes having a place to dig his foot in so he feels safe and then opens out of that hole. He also doesn't seem to like much flow at all.

I actually just transferred the whole crew into my main display this weekend. I put him approximately where I wanted him to be. Definitely recommend turning off the powerheads at first. He ultimately let go, floated to the opposite side of the tank, attached to a rock, let go, floated back over to the original side, attached at the bottom of some rocks, then climbed up to where I originally wanted him to go. He then proceeded to dig his foot into an opening in the rockwork and has stayed put for about a day now. This was all with a clownfish inside along for the ride. Hehe.

Of course at some point you have to turn the powerheads back on and the resulting flow may or may not make them decide to move again. Although I guess once they've "dug in" maybe they'll be less likely to. Hopefully mine stays put. Good luck with yours!

I have mine attached to a rock that is scooped out like a small cave. It seems to like the protection the rock offers. It can easily stretch out if it wants or slink back and hide. I also have a lower flow in that area. It moved the first week I got it to the rock where it is now and it has been there ever since (6+ months I think). It has split once so it must be happy.

i would recommend putting a rock in the quart container for it to attach too, then once it looks solidly attached put it in a deep hole in the rockwork, it will figure itself out

I love playing with my amenomes. Wicked long story...Well its quite easy just put the base to the rock(i have never had luck putting on wall will stay for a hr tops)...Its that easy it will do all the work! placement is key i try never in a hole where they can barrow happens over night they easterly die. Now removing and moving is the hard part but easiest when he swells his base to walk around!

Mines recently just spilt. I want to move one of them to the other side of the tank. Any tips? (hope im not hijaking)

I put the container on the sand bed with a long narrow rock half in/out and rested that against a rock peninsula base in about 7 hrs it finally decided to exit and climb.Fast forward to this morning it's still on the peninsula and doesn't look like anything was toppeled or stung....cool! :)

I thought I had lucked out, but mine decided to hit the road again. Last I saw he was back on the opposite side of the tank crawling deep into a big cave heading towards the back of the rock tank. That crazy cnidarian!

Good chance it will move still. I placed mine where I wanted it, knowing it would move, but I hoped. It moved but to a spot that wasn't bad. A few days later, he (Or she) decided to take a float around the tank. I stayed up for a couple hours in the middle of the night making sure he didnt float into any powerheads. He finally positioned himself on the right side, but in the back. At least I can see him from the right, but still a terrible spot.

I hear that Rob! It has gone up>thru>down>up>forward>backward>up and back>back>back>around a large rock pillar structure 5 times that has a good size devils hand even climbed up and across and over the devils once>down>around and now is resting under the devils hand from when the lights went out last night. This bta can move several inchs an hour when it wants to.

I got mine as a baby from CRA and he came with his foot in a mexican turbo snail shell. He is bigger now, but still loving living in that shell! I have him in front of a little island and hopefully he will move into the rockwork there soon, but for now, I can't evict him from his little curly home.

One of mine is currently attached to the back wall of my tank right at sand level. During the day it stretches itself a good 8" up along the back glass and between the rock and opens up. It attaches part of itself to the back glass and spills out over the top of the rock. As soon as the lights go out it pulls it's all the way back down to sand level. It is really amazing how much these things can stretch if they want to.
