Top off with salt or fresh?

When all of you top of your systems either by pouring it in yourself or an ATO,
Do you top off with fresh or saltwater?

Fresh. If you use salt it will raise your salinity.

Salt doesn't evaporate so when you have evaporation, your salinity rises. An ATO is used, not only to keep a constant water level but also a stable salinity.

That is what i was doing,
I said the same about evap, but was getting into a "Tiff" with a guy at my work who says you must use salt.
Then again he said his tank is a GHA farm and a waste of money. hahaha

Yeah, I dont think he takes advise from ppl vary well. I showed him what you all said. He then said we're all wrong and left my office.
Oh well, We can only try to educate the masses.

this is funny, how can someone even have a reef tank for more than a month before everything dies doing this.. I was under the impression that almost all of us who are in this hobby have at least a basic understanding of physics/chemistry but apparently not lol
