training a Raccoon butterfly to mow Majanos...

Hi all-

I am plagued by Majanos in my 75g reef talk and really want to address the issue. Manual removal or Joe's Juice didn't work for me.
I have heard/read that Raccoon butterflies tend to like these things.
So I bought one, put him in a QT, and added a few rocks with plenty of Majanos.

It's been 3 days, and I am not sure this experiment is going to work.
Plenty of majanos remain, and they are spreading (as they do).

Suggestions?

thanks-
Jim Gray

Is he eating at all?

You can't train a fish to do anything that they don't want to do. Raccoons are a great choice for eating Mojanos, but all fish are individuals.

Sure - he is picking at things here and there, appears to be eating, and is healthy.
Additionally, the folks at Skiptons assured me that he was eating.
I put a little frozen Cyclops in for him, and he didn't seem all that interested, but that was his first day-

You have to allow a few days to a week (maybe longer) for the fish to adjust.

thanks, Ray!

I was planning to keep him in the QT for a good week.
Glad to hear that there is hope-

I would recomend longer than a week for QT, but to get him to eat the mojanos get him eating mysis well, then target feed mysis to some mojanos and don't feed the fish (or feed him less) He should get the plan really quickly and you can stop feeding the mojanos.

Thanks a lot, Flighty-
I can certainly QT for more than a week (got it all set up, and all...)

Frozen mysis ok?

I guess any food would work. I just like PE mysisbecause it is big and easy forthe fish to find.
