Tri Color Acropora Has yet to color up

I know these wild tri colors are notorious for having trouble coloring up but I have had this one for almost close to a year now and while the tips are a bright purple the base is only green when looking from the top down. When looking through the tank the tips are visibly purple but the base is a pale brown color. It is in the top of my tank so I know light is not an issue. I have over 20 plus pieces of acropora in my tank including Tyree purple monster which is a sensitive piece along and it couldn't have better color. All my acros are colored up even some pieces that I purchased with faded colors. It is healthy for the most part as it is encrusting all over my rock. I dose fuel half the dose twice a week as a food and amino acid source. Occasionally I'll dose acropower. Any thoughts. I should mention the piece was purchased under MH but was only at the LFS for maybe 4 days and is now under two Hydra 26's over my 72 bow front.

If it's wild how do you know that it is / should be a tri color?

I saw the picture from the wholesaler that collected it. green base with purple tips. pretty common tri color color variation

Maybe that's just how it is? As long as it seems healthy I'd be happy.

too much light and or nitrates . Phosphates play a roll too . chances are its one of those if not a couple . I have the same issue so I moved them around I have 4 of them , and the one doing besy gets less light

I am wondering how you get to see the picture from the wholesaler? Are you a retailer?

If I understood your posting, when you look top down you see the correct colors, but when you look through the tank glass the base is brown. If this is correct then I will think in a change of color due to the glass quality.

Sorry if I totally misunderstood your posting.

I've got same issue from one of my tri-colors, from front of DT it looks mostly brown/cream. From top down, base is dark green, tips are bright purple, and polyps white. It may be something to do with thickness and color of glass, it may be related to angle light is hitting the coral, whatever. Mine has been this way for over 18 months.

Switching to LED's very soon and this was one thing I was hoping would improve by more control over the LED blue/white/UV spectrum intensity.
