They are completely different.

What kind of wavemaker are you talking about? If your talk about say a Tunze 7096 or the Hydor Koralia controller no you can not, if your looking at something like the Red Sea Wavemaker Pro then yes.

I've had Koralia and now have Tunze. Koralia is a Chevy, Tunze is a BMW. I would not put any AC pump on a wavemaker no matter the manufacturer says. They may run okay for a few months but once the bump stops wear that force it to go in the right direction they'll be running backwards all the time. The only AC pump that works good on a wavemaker is a Sicce Voyeger because they operate like a MaxiJet, it does matter which way the pump starts. But they are extremely large.
