Tunze nano mod - holy crap!

Not sure if this has been seen by everyone with these pumps (6025s). I just modded mine and I think I hit the too much flow category (122x turnover). Water is sloshing everywhere, fish look crazed, corals look happy though .
Anyone else do this mod yet?

hey grundig, I ran a maxijett for 6 weeks while I was here up at school back in my tank at home. It clogged up with salt, but it was still working. It was never turned off in 6 weeks...

Good luck with that. That mod generally makes the tunze nanos much more prone to failure.(not that they aren't already really prone to failure). The tube is there because it essentially forces the prop to spin one way.

I have also done the wider flow mod (by cutting the output tube down a bit), as well as the stopper mod. All in all...roughly 1100gph in a wide flow that always starts the correct way isnt bad for a little time with a dremel (other than perhaps hurting the life of the pump). However, I have yet to see a report of a nano failing due to the mod itself. Longevity has yet to be seen, but I like it so far.

Due to the modifications, or because the nanostreams had manufacturing problems in the first few batches released? Mine were also defective before I modded them. Tunze replaced the motors and the new ones have worked flawlessly. I have read that thread a few times over, and I didnt see any failures simply because of the modification...
