tunze,whats the verdict

I think two 6100s would be overkill. I have the 6000 and 6100 both on the same short end of the 120 (same footprint as yours but 24 inches deep) I think you would be happy with one of each. I couldn't see putting two 6100s in this thing. I think it would knock the back glass off. As it is I run them in short bursts so the water is more chaotic rather than flowing fast in the same direction.

It does only cost the difference in price to upgrade the transformer. ~70 bucks I think.

I have a 90 gal tank - and have been thinking of switching to a Tunze - but can't figure out what unit(s) would make the most sense.

* One unit (and if just one which unit would have the "right amount" of flow)?

* Two smaller units?

Any advice on what would be a smart purchase and configuration for a 90 gal setup would be appreciated!

My hesitation on whether I would buy them again is mostly based on my tank configuration and their expense. They work wonderfully. My tank is 6' long and viewable from 3 sides (both lengths and one short end). That means the only places I can really locate the pumps are on the other short end, or possibly if I hide them in the middle somehow. While that configuration will work fine, I'm just not convinced it is ideal, or even close to it.

Ideally, I would prefer to have most of my flow to come from a dump/surge device or something similar; I feel it is more natural and can also be much cheaper. The down-sides being: noise, tank/plumbing limitations (can the tank handle a reasonably sized influx of water in a short period of time) and space (you needa place to store the water before it surges). That wasn't an option when I lived in the city but now that I own my house, it might be...

120g 2 6000's I love them only thing is they take up room but I think its a small price to pay.
