Using Randys Rec??

dcforester1

Finally enjoying my tank
I have been using Randys two part from the beginning. When I mix up the Mag part I have been using just epsom salt. This time I used the epsom salt and mag flake, and it is milky looking. When I use just epsom salt it is clear is this the way it looks?

TIA Derek

i just use the epsom salts too so i have no idea, but im currious....

It's always been milky for me when I use Randy's Mag recipe

Mix it and give it some time. It may take a couple of days, but it does clear.

FWIW, the epsom salts only mix will give you much higher sulfates <?> than is recommended, IIRC

I know, thats why I finally changed to the one mixed with MagFlake. The other stuff I had around for awhile, but it was clear. This is milky, I just wanted to make sure I didnt do something wrong mixing it.

Thanks Guys

Just give it a day or two and see what happens.

My jug looks like clean water, totally clear. I just picked it up and shook it, it still looks the same. It's been sitting for over a month.

This is true but if you're religious about water changes it shouldn't be a problem... I used to use epsom salt for my mag but then I stopped being religious about water changes so I stopped using it :D
