Warning: Buying equipment via mail stinks

Why are people so moronic when shipping things via mail?

I just bought a skimmer from someone on RC and this numbnut laid down a thin layer of peanuts (like 1 inch, put a heavy pump right next to the big acrylic collection cup with no padding anywhere and you can guess what happened. Do people really think that will even make it on the car ride to the post office, never mind the actual mail process?

I thought this lameness was restricted to ebay sellers of which I've experienced before (such as shipping headlights with no padding whatsoever), but apparently this malady is spreading all over the place.

Before the purchase, I told the seller to package it up properly so it doesn't get damaged. Looks like they followed my advice.

ON a side note the shipping industry is horrible, I work in it.....If it says do not stack on top we just tip it on its side...If it says do not tip we stack on top of it......if it says fragile it means to throw it harder......Not saying I do this but this is very common practice in the shipping industry....

Did you get insurance? Although I don't know if they will pay out if the thing wasn't packaged properly. You might be able to file a claim with paypal.

This is why on anything of value I buy insurance and pay them the few dollars to package the item. No question on fault if something happens.

A month or two ago I recieve a skimmer that was also packed by an idiot. It was in the box with NO packing material.....just and ETSS 900 in a box.

I bought a Schuran JS1 from an RC member several months ago. It was pacakged OK, but it arrived busted. To make a long story short, the seller tried to screw me out of my money. Then Paypal took forever to process the claim, so I let my credit card company deal with it. From now on, I buy big ticket items from vendors, be it local or online.
