How on earth do you take these filters off, I have tried to screw them off to no avail. Am I missing something? I need to replace the carbon and sediment filters.

Are you using the special wrench that fits the cylinders? If they're screwed on tight, brute force is the only way I've found to get them off.

I learned the hard way to not over tighten them. Now I only slightly tighten them - I start out pretty loose and only tighten further if there's a drip.

^^^ x2

It can be tough sometimes to get those housings off. Make sure you are turning them the correct way.

Also, it never hurts to lube the o-rings up with a food grade silicone lubricant. It not only makes things easier to remove, but also prolongs the life of any rubber seals in your system, ie: o-rings and seals on pumps.

I agree that you shouldn't over tighten. Hand tight plus an 1/8 of a turn works for me.

From the factory, they are a pain in the A$$ to get off. Make sure you're loosening :D

if it's any consolation, I BROKE the wrench mine came with getting the filters off the first time
