This was my 90gal 2 months ago:

Everything survived moving into my house and was stable for about a month.
I started having strange behavior by certain Acros and played it off as adjusting to the move and new lighting. This eventually progressed to the point of colonies and frags randomly stripping from either the base or tips.
Monti, LPS, and fish were all fine and my water parameters were well within check. In fact the tank was more stable in the new location than it was previously.
Needless to say I decided to break it down after about a 70% Acro loss and other species of coral were beginning to show signs of stress.
All equipment to the tank was off while breaking down besides my heater and my backup heater. I had taken my temp and ph probe out and put them in a cup to keep them wet. When the temp in the cup dropped, it kicked on both heaters and I heard a fizzling and noticed the backup heater had micro bubbles and what looked like a small oil slick spewing out of the top.
The backup heater kicked on at most two times a day so the small amount of whatever was coming out of the heater must have taken time to build up in the system.
So on to the new tank....
