So I got a very stubborn mantis shrimp as a hitchhiker in some live rock from Florida that I'm almost certain is a wennerae. In my attempts to get her out of her hole, after trying flushing with hypo- and hyper- saline water, I tried soda water, since that seems to be the next step of escalation.
After 5 minutes soaking in carbonation, the mantis still would not leave, so I flushed out everything with some tank water in a turkey baster and I wanted to be thorough, so I was really blasting it.
Well, some small mats of eggs came out, probably why this thing was so hesitant to leave its burrow. I'm not sure if they are still viable after all the club soda, but just in case, I threw them in the quarantine tank I'd set up (basically just tank water, a heater, and a small hob filter. Not sure if the mom survived or not.
If anyone wants them, let me know. I live in JP and I'll be available today or Monday (I've got long hours the next three days).
