What kind of LUX readings should I be looking for?

RayD

The Chicago Experience!
Just picked up a Milwaukee LUX meter on CL pretty cheap.

Now all I need to know is how to use it properly.

I'd like a reading from the bottom of the tank. 2 ft tank with MH lighting about 8-10" off the water.

What IYO would be a decent reading for let's say clam keeping in particular?

Is it a waterproof lux meter? I've had a lux meter for like over 7 years...Mine isn't waterproof....I only used it to test the degrading of bulbs as they gained hours of use.....If your looking to measure at the bottom of the tank you should be using a par meter...

BTW...Mine is a Ultralife

Does your look like this?

Yea it looks something like that. Sensor is waterproof and is submersible.

That's a par meter Ray. From what I understand from the last time Sanjay was here, if you are getting around 100 on the bottom, you should pretty much be able to grow anything you want "some where" in your tank. That's about as technical as I get though. :D
