Hello All,
I know this might sound like a stupid question I am going to be setting up my first refuge tonight and was wondering what light bulb is everyone using in there refuge with the cheep Home depo clip on light, also I did just post this second question in the WTB section does any one have some pod filled Cheato they could bring to the meeting Sunday, will pay for. Just let me know how much. Thanks for any info giving.

Thanks again
Dom

I'm just using a Home Depot CFL (cork-screw) type that is 3500K in a Home Depot reflector fixture. Ideally you want something closer to 6500K from what I've read, but the 3500K was all I could find.

Thanks Mr. X, are you getting good cheato growth with that 3500k?,

It's not great, but it grows. Keep in mind, I have 100g stock tank as a sump, so it might be that I need more than one bulb over it. What size sump are you running?

A 40g breeder that got converted to a 3 camber sump for my 75 gallon main tank, I have a 90 gallon that I am starting as well but i am going to use a 36'' wide trigger system sump for that one.

Squiggly energy efficient bulb at 6500 k with a clip on home depot reflector. Chaetto grows maad though its a softie tank probably loaded with nutrients soo.........

Same I use. A 6.5k power compact bulb. Works ok for my mangroves too, but I suspect they'd be happier with a second bulb, and/or a brighter fixture.

Thanks guys, The $9.00 clip on home depot reflector is what I am going with, so a 6500k compact bulb energy efficient,
Thanks again all

I use a 6500K CFL, I by them at Hi-tech garden center(htgc), they are like $6, and they have a 1 year guarantee. They work great.

I have a 96w 10k cf above my 90g sump/fuge.

i have a Home depot reflector with a 60w soft white bulb i found in the closet.... work amazing on caulerpa, not so sure on chaeto though lol the caulerpa grew so fast that it choked out the chaeto.
