I'm looking for a return pump that can be use Externally and Internally as well. Oh yeah and it should be quiet. Any recommendation?

Well, I can tell you to stay away from the Mag series but you probably already know this. The submersible pumps I've had the most luck with running externally are the Ehiem 1250, 1260, and 1262 but these may not have the flow and head pressure you are looking for.

I'm running a mag12 and surprisingly it's quiet w/ no vibrations.

look at the oceanrunner pumps, quiet and efficient. A 6500 would do ya pretty well....

Ehiem 1260 - +1. Super quiet.

There's a washer you have to add (comes with the pump), and a little teflon tape on one plumbed joint that was seeping, but it worked fine.

I run a Eheim 1262 externally.....can't hear it running at all. Very nice!

if you want the quietest external pump around... it's supposed to be pretty much impossible to beat the noise level of the Velocity Poseidon external pumps... but they are water cooled, so they add a good deal of heat to the tank...

like the others said, i'd recommend Eheim or Ocean Runner... if external is a big deal to you, then you'll want Eheim, either the 1260, or the 1262... but if you don't care that much about the external aspect, than the ocean runner is cheaper and works great as an internal pump.

If you really want to shell out money for a solid, quiet, internal/external LOW WATTAGE pump, then look into the Tunze recirculating models, the Red Dragon pumps, and or the ATB Flowstar pumps...
