whats the chances my anemone is dyed

its yellow and looks like a sabea anemone or h malu .....just its all the same colr and extending whil i drip im scared to put it in ..looks healthy though ....anyone have a yellow anemone

i was told to pay 60 i hasseled down to trade of two big corals and 40


thats it in my bucket i been dripping for 2 hrs im scared to throw it in i have alot of corals

So does it look the same as when you purchased it or not?

If it is not shrinking or sliming I would not be too concerned yet.

If you do put it into your main tank and it does start to slime and deteriorate.

Take it out and consider it a loss as they can poison a tank if they start to die.

It does look dyed the tips are yellow and most yellow sebae anemones have dark tips. Why are you afraid to put it in your tank? Even if it is dyed(not 100% sure it is)it will not bother anything and you can keep sebaes with coral. I had one the size of a hubcap in my 90g for a long time. Just put it in either way it looks cool.

what happends if it is dyed i need help im confused is it keepable ....i dont wanna have to worry about this at work...i shutt off all flow and lights acclimated for 2 hrs and some change

I havent had a sebea in 15 years so I am not quite sure how easy they are to keep

IMO that does look an awful lot like the dyed sebaes that used to be all too common. IIRC the dying process doesn't necessarily harm the nem, but more often than not they are at least partially bleached before being dyed. Again, IIRC, the typical prognosis with these is that in a fairly short time the dye fades out leaving a mostly bleached nem, but then if well cared for they will color back up in their natural tan color.

Then again, the dyed sebaes I used to see frequently (in the metrowest area, store that's an isle of its own ) would be uniform colored and didn't have different base colors. Maybe you scored something remarkable ??

Never see something like that. Looks dyed but who knows.
I thought the days of dying an anemone was gone.
The big question can be: is it photosynthetic?

Bubbled up tentacles on sebae anemone is not a sign of good healthy. The tentacles would be elongated and stretch out. Good luck.
