What's the easiest way to quiet this down?

Just drilled it and its super loud! How can I make it quiet?

Try angling the elbow downward, you may have to extend the return pipe to make up for any water loss.
 
You'd have to rework the overflow a bit, but if you take a tee attach it two the bulkhead outside the tank, take a cap and drill a small hole and put on top of the tee, then have your vinyl tube running out the bottom of the tee to the sump. It's kind of like a durso stand pipe, should quiet it down significantly, atleast get rid if the sucking sound.

Simple Fix... Add a Cone screen to the top of the elbow. It works Perfect in My 110. It also screens out the large debris for easy cleaning. A threaded elbow makes it a little easier but is not nec. You may want to separate the return from the over flow also.
 
I would separate them but I don't have enough hose, this is only a 10g also, but it's in my bedroom, and needs to be quiet or my girlfriends going to kill me
