What's the word on penductors/eductors these days?

I've searched around and read as much as I could find, but the discussions mostly seem dated.

IIRC they were a hot topic a few yrs ago, but then the excitement died down.

These days the trend seems to be toward effiency/reduced electricty consumption.

Can I save electircty by swapping my main circ pump out for a smaller one and add eductors to get the same flow but use less electricity?

Currently my main pump is an iwaki MD70, I was thinking of swapping over to a MD55 and adding eductors on the two returns.

Any input appreciated.

I'm using 4 in my 180, they seem to put out a pretty good amount of flow.

if i was to set up a big tank i think that i would go the closed loop, ocean motions/reeflo snapper route. A bit of money to spend upfront, and the pumps aren't all that energy efficient, but it's a lot of flow, it's alternating flow, and you don't have the eyesore of power heads in the tank... at all.

I was considering a reefflo pump, but $40 for a pair of eductors would be a lot cheaper. Still though, the snapper would save something like 65W and about .5amp over the iwaki55.

Maybe I will go that route, thanks for the suggestion.
