Yeah, it doesnt have dots like that. It looks more like some type of fungus or slime...

I'd say it's brooklynella too... even though it's been a week and it's usually deadly pretty quickly... but the pattern looks like brook.

Btw, the photo with velvet is of a freshwater fish -- marine velvet is caused by a different organism, with slightly different symptoms, and not directly comparable external signs.

i think the survival rate after a formalin bath is pretty low. formalin is very harsh on the fish. considering it's already in a weakened state, it may do more harm than good. just my thoughts.

yeah,,had a clown go down with brook,,just began eating its mouth away..horrible horrible disease..tough seeing the fish suffer through it.
felt so bad..the little guy hung in there for 3+ weeks.. i tried a multiple of things and just nothing improved the condition.
think ya got to get on it quick...
go to rc and check the formalin bath routine..i think it's 3 baths 1 every 24 hrs.

only had to deal with it once...coral beauty wiped out my 1st tank.. all dead within 4 days.... the fish looked just like the pic...dosed in very small greyish white specks...i mean covered....
at least that was my experience...curious to what you have seen that looks different?

Fish come down with illness normally due to stress. Damsel is known to casue a lot of stress to clown fish.

I've treated velvet successfully in clowns with a combination of formalin dips and copper in a QT tank. RC has the formalin procedure. Good luck.

The fish I've gotten with Brook all died very quickly after showing symptoms - within 24 hours. They were Heniochus though, so probably not as hardy as clowns. Interestingly, one pair showed symptoms immediatly upon getting them home, the second pair were very healthy for 3 weeks, and then promptly showed typical brook symptoms and died. In both cases all other fish were completely unaffected (skunk clowns, LMB, YH goby, Majestic angel).

Seems odd that these guys show outer symptoms more like brook, but aren't dead yet. Then again, I'm unfamiliar with this disease progression in clowns.
