Came home tonight to 2 bleached corals, about half the sps have no polyp extention & one of my onyx is swimming funny and banging into the glass
Tested everything...

Turned all equipment on and off to see if I could feel any current, did a 50% water change ...

I'm at a loss... any other idea's I might have forgotten about... please quickly!!!

Anything sprayed in the air? Air freshener perhaps? Are you running carbon now?

My first thought was electric current, I took all the pumps out and inspected them & I dont see anything what else could I look for for current????

My roomates know not to spray anything in the fish room.

My salinity is 1.026

I dont think metal would make the clown act strange too do you?

Flighty I really wish you were closer! I'd take you up on holding my clowns till I figured out what was going on.

I did just change out my carbon when I got home... ugh, this is the most frustrating part of this hobby, not knowing. I dont know what else to test for... I dont have a copper test kit, I looked around in the tank and dont see anything, all the nails are still in the hood where they should be.

Sounds to me like something chemical, especially since params and electrical seem fine. This is a bummer...

If it was me I think I would have to assume something toxic was released into the system and get the clowns out into a same temp well aerated bucket of mostly new water.

Have you checked your heater? There have been a lot of heater-meltdowns lately on this forum.

did you just do a water change thinking with roomates they might have used a bucket and put it back maybe?lmk if you loose the tank I can help with the rebuild.sorry to here this this hobby is brutal.

the buckets go beside the tank & they know not to use them, I ask also just incase & neither has touched them or sprayed anything in the room.

I'm making more water now for a second water change

Some of the polyps are comming back out. I fragged my red table that was RTN bad & the polyps on the frag are now out, clown is not spastic at the surface or banging into the glass but he is still swimming funny. The other clown seems un-phased.

This is going to be a long night

I did check the heater, no cracks or burnt look, still warm... should I look for anything else? that and the css pump were my first concern.

Clam man got me worried so I dumped all that fresh water & cleaned the bucket.

Any other thoughts or things I should look for in faulty equipment?

Could something have gotten spilled onto the carbon or could you have set it down where there is soap or something? Skimmer doing anything funky? any smell to the water?

does it look ok or is it foaming?

did you put any hand cream on then put your hands in the tank?im not sure that would crash a tank anyways.water change water change then water change this sucks if I was closer I would be at your door with water.
