what's your favorite most trusted heaters

I don't trust any heater. I use any brand heater with a knob for setting the temperature and also use a temperature controller.

^ +1. My biggest heater is a 1000W, which runs on it's own controller, and I have my ACIII as a failsafe. I unplug the 1000W except in the winter, and instead have a few 150W. Even if the 150W heaters completely locks up, it isn't enough by itelf to cook my tank. However, pre-controller, I lost a whole QT full of fish to a locked on heater.

I really would never trust any heater 100%. If you can, always use a controller.
With that said, I have had the most recent success and have been using the Aquamedic Biotherm Titanium with controller, and have been very happy so far. I also use Marineland Stealth Heaters, they are plastic molded and virtually indestructible.(plus they have a lifetime guarantee) But these are not fail safe. I have had one or two out of about 60 or so fail (so a controller would be a good thing to use with these)

I am using Finnex titanium heaters without the controllers. You can buy then with or without the controllers and I recommend that you use an external controller

I'm using the Won Brother Titanium heater. The temp sensor has been cut off and the heater is controlled with the ACJR. Works great!
