Where would you go to buy a custom tank

You can put a screen lid on a rimless and look good if you're crafty enough. The trick is to drop the rim down into the tank so it's hidden and use clear acrylic bracing rather than aluminum channel.

BRS screen on rimless 40B tank

I have a couple of fish that are known jumpers which I built a screen top on my current tank, putting a screen top on a rimless has mixed reviews from what I read.

I have a BRS screen on my rimless starfire 40 breeder. No issues, plop it on top and you're done. I did double face sticky tape a couple of pieces of plastic on the back of the tank. Put the screen on, push all the way back, adjust left or right, your done, no worries. We're trying to stop aquarium fish, mostly wrasses and gobies, from jumping out. I doubt if one jumped they'd even move it.

Do keep in mind though, nothing beats a nice ReefSavvy overflow. Full tank-length overflows? Mmm...Mmm...Mmm...

Hahahahahahahahahahaha...reef porn!

Well I have a GC 120 that I am actually selling today. For the money its a great tank. The edges are not polished like a Miracles tank, but you are not paying the price for one either. It is a rimless tank, and its 3/4in and not star fire. Its a great tank and was enjoyed for many years. However I am downsizing to a 60 cube, and i am going 1st class with this one. I have quotes from Miracles, Reef Savvy, and Coast to Coast. I am leaning to Miracles because the cost with external overflow, with 3 drains and 2 returns, 3 sides star fire, crated and shipped ($1400) is far less than Reef Savvy and Coast to Coast. I like the Reef Savvy tank the best, but its $1800 before crating and shipping ($500), and CtC is about the same as Reef Savvy. I am now thinking of maybe king an Elos, or Cad Light tank. ?????

Good Luck

Derek

Buying my first tank was easy, had no knowledge went to lovely pets and bought a 90 gallon reef ready tank......done. now a year into the Hobby I see all the bells and whistle that add so much to the hobby that it feels like I am over thinking the purchase. Thanks for the photo and screen top tips. Very helpful

Going to call miracle Monday and review some tank ideas. Leaning towards getting the tank from them

My next tank will have a full width (coast to coast) overflow, and 5 holes for a bean animal and split return (just because on the return). I want my next tank to be the last one I ever buy, because it probably will be...I guess if you consider all that you would/could ever want in a tank, get some quotes/reviews and make a decision from there. Be specific and get specific answers...the time to find out something isn't what you expected is at the loading dock, or worse at home when you're unboxing your new dream tank. Get pictures of their process and examples of builds so you know what they're capable of...in other words, get you moneys worth!

That is a very well thought out setup, and I couldn't agree more to it being optimal. Nice.

I had a rimless for 3 years with never a snail issue

Thanks for the feedback it was helpful. Going to get the 180 gallon tank, euro braced from Miracle. Just going to decide if I want the center overflow or go with a coast to coast overflow. I received quotes from Reef Savvy and Coast to Coast and both there cost were almost double of Miracles. Since all three company's have good reps and Miracle has been great to gain information with went with saving a little money.

Now time to look into a stand, sum and lighting.

A guy gave me some advice on choosing a woman when I was a young man...he said make a list of 5 or 10 things you want to have in a woman...then go with one that can offer you 4 out of 5...or 8 out of 10 things of what you want. My natural question was 'why not look for the 10 out of ten'...and he said, 'because then you'll be envious of what you already have'.

Only you have to live with your decision. Hope you made a list ;)

Now what's with eurobracing....I know what it is, but what's the draw to it over a rimless setup per say?

I agree on the disclaimer on the list. My wife thinks I a, crazy for getting a bigger tank, not sure of her thoughts at all the costs in the end.

I like the euro brace look more plus I can add a screen top more easily. Started off thinking I was going to get i 150 gallon, regular glass and did my home work to be sure I got what I wanted. The coast to coast overflow caught my interest as I never considered that before.
