I've heard stories of clown fish living for many years when kept in ideal conditions.
I have a pair that's not all that old, 3 1/2 years.I'm sure there's some very old pairs in the club.
How old are your clown pair?

My pair is about 4 years old.

I think joe (saltyolddog) bets alot of people by a mile.....i think he said he had his for around 20 years or so and the fins on them look wrinkly and a different odd looking apperance i cant quite describe but they are a very cool looking pair hosting in a giant rbta .......

I had a pair that I had for about 8yrs...sold it to someone in the club...can't recall his name but was going to try and cultivate the eggs...I would assume they are still alive

Mine have never laid eggs(that I know of).

I picked up my pair of gold bar maroons from Tropic Isle in 1997 I believe it was. Guess that makes it about 14 years in my hands. They started laying eggs about 1 year later I believe, and still lay about once every 2 weeks. Let's see...at I'm guessing 500 or so eggs on average that would be almost 170,000 eggs laid. I raised a few batches from their spawns many years ago. Sold and traded the babies away. I have a ternate damsel almost as old as the clowns.

They say as time goes on you start to look like your fish, and that a pretty good description of Joe;)

I have had mine for 7 years now. Dont know if they have laid eggs or not. They say that clowns can live up to 30 years old.

I just adopted 10 year old clowns and a 10 year old purple tang. They have their own tank in the system -- I call it the geriatric tank.

We've had our female for nearly 9 years. She has been with this male a few years, but he's not the original mate. She's got a mean streak and bites, so I'm thinking she'll be around as long as we're in the hobby.

EDIT: It just occured to me how long I've been in this hobby!! Where does the time go?

I inherited a mated egglaying false perc pair. Awesome fish. The female unfortunately came down with an internal infection last summer that resisted treatments and passed. Darn upsetting as she was super friendly and would 'dance' when it was feeding time. The male is doing great and immediately paired up with a mocha juvenile a fellow reefer bred at home. The male is now the female. My closest estimate is he is around 8 years old, but impossible to tell. I'm at least the third owner for the fish. So, the pair was apparently together for about 7+ years.I miss seeing their clutch of eggs.

my female false (pennywise) was one of the first fish i bought (sadly none of the other originals made it) in 2004 and has made it through some horrific noob mistakes. she's been with her current mate since 2006.

Sheesh, some old clowns in here. My ocellaris are only about a year or two and had them for less.
