As the topic says I'm curious who's running a skimmerless tank successfully? As my post mentioned a few minutes ago I'm thinking of adding a gravity fed refuguim to my tank and would love the idea of ditching my skimmer or not buying another skimmer...

The tank I just bought didn't come with a skimmer (he wasn't running one), so I'll probably see how things go without one. Not dealing with the skimmate, and not having to drop a couple hundred more $$ is appealing.

Following to see what kind of input you get.

I don't use skimmers, and my softie tanks don't seem to care, but I'm thinking of starting again on my sps tank. I'm not going to run it constantly, maybe once or twice a week especially after feeding certain foods that leave a film on the water.

I’m looking into taking mine offline as well. I have 0 nitrates and I need to boost them up a little. Phosphate on the other hand I need to buy a regular test kit because my Hanna is saying it’s still to high(above 0.90) for it to read. I don’t know how high until I get a regular test kit.

My IM20 runs skimmerless but it only has 1 fish in it. 0 detectable nitrates and phosphates the last time I checked. Pretty sure the softies and Xenia are uptaking all of the nutrients.
