Are the kits you are using titration type tests, where your test sample is mixed with a dye of one color, and you add a reagent one drop at a time until the solution changes abruptly to another color? Or are you using tests where you mix all the reagents together, let sit for a short period, and then compare the color to a chart by eye? The color chart test kits aren't reliable enough to use for reefs, IMO. The ranges are not useful for the levels we care about. Plus they're difficult to interpret. I'd only recommend titration type tests such as salifert or Hagen.
