Secondly I see a lot of info for members, such as renewing, screen names, etc. But why isn't there a page, linked on the home page, not the forum, that talks about membership? Something that says why I should join and then a link on how to join. Honestly I looked around a little about that having seen it mentioned before but really could not find any info. I think maybe I was reading about meetings and paid and non paid members or something that made me do a quick search. But it shouldn't be a struggle to find, that's for sure.

Similar to what a lot are saying, when you are actively involved within a community you wish to help out, paying $20 a year is one of those ways
Other sites may not "suggest" paying but most out of kindness wish to (for the active give and take).

one difference though, Reefcentral in a for profit. Where as the BRS is a non profit where all the fund go to running the club, not paying people who run it.

well they kinda do with the grow contest. the only thing you have to do is post images of your frag and you might even win a gift certificate to your favorite sponsor

But it makes the point of this thread perhaps the issue is many do not understand what membership holds for them.

Im sorry , for neglecting in paying for a membership to BRS. I will take care of that this week. Personally I dont need a reason why I should become a member expect to support the growth of your club and your hobbyist. Being a beginning neighbor club, your club has been very helpful in helping us grow. The $20 is only the price of a small frag. Perks are always nice, but shouldnt be a reason whether or not to pay a club membership. Even though being a non-profit organization as we are, there are still costs to pay (speakers, special events, renting venues, corporation expense etc..)IMO I do agree that there should be a amount of posts or being a paid member or some guideline that should be followed to sell on any clubs forum. We arent stores. But helping out other hobbyists ,while making a few dollars to help in the price of running your tank is good and reasonable. Think for a minute of the meetings and events you have gone to, answered newbies questions, have your own questions answered. We are all friends in a hobby we enjoy. Lets help our clubs with memberships so we can continue to grow, make new friends, enjoy the hobby and have fun.

That being said Greg... Not that willing change my stance to BRS. I would love to get PAID!!!!
We do this out of love for the hobby and I sincerely want to that you since you and Jay were the people to keep our club it when it COULDN'T be up s few years ago.
It's leadership like yours that keeps us going and moving forward... the current BOD has only to thank u and the past leadership to keep keep the club alive.

Thanks Greg, u guys were the brains, with out u guys (for once my droid auto correct nailed it!)..... We wouldn't be here.... u, Greg, Moe, sorry if I missed the founders, just named the ones I know and are most active.... U could always go to the by laws. It's available to every member

Anyone can toss up a site and charge money. We are accountable for where every penny goes and must report that yearly.
Most only want to be involved in the glitz and glamor part of the club, which is understandable.

I'm already a paid member and it did pay for it self when I won a photo contest my first week!
But I wanted to be a paid member either way, because this is a great group of very knowledgeable people and I felt it was only right I supported it!
Like I said earlier making some of the "perks" accessible to paid members that live a little further away would be awesome! Like....par meter and library but if it's not possible I'd completely understand that as well.
Just the saving you can get from shopping in the "for sale" section more then pays back your membership 10 fold and being able to sell things on here!

it's worth it!!
