I know everyone either loves or hates them. I love them. However, not much experience with them. Is it common for them to kind of ball up for awhile and then expand and pulse? I've had my first one for a week now and it never did this, but the last 2 nights I get home and it's balled up. A little later it expands, pulses and everything looks fine. Is this normal?

Depends on if something is touching them or not.
Also mine will shrink when the lights go out for a while.
I have learned that Alk plays a big part in how they react.

Alk is fine around 10. It is close to another coral, but it is going to have to move if it wants to!

xenia shrinks at night, under stress, under low alk, or when it is pooping

Must be pooping then! Alk is fine, it doesn't do this at night, and parameters are fine so I don't know what could stress it.
