xm light bulbs?

so i bought a 250w 15k xm bulb today mostly out of desperation and not reasoning for what i really wanted. because my bulb blew out today
anybody have issues with these bulbs? or not happy with color output?
i had a ushio 10k that had good growth but i wanted some more blue in the spectrum so i went with the 15k

IIRC, the color was good according to most....only complaint was no growth

I ran one for a while. In my subjective opinion it had quite good intensity but I found the color to be a little odd, kind of violet.

It's color reminded me of some of those blended spectrum T5 bulbs.

i def want as much growth as i can for the moment

I used the 175 watt MH. Loved the color.... hated the growth. Hopefully you'll get more growth with the 250 Watt MH.

15k xm

I run the 250 watt de 15k xm. I think the color is odd and growth is slow. In my tank anyway. It makes the green of the hammer, orange plate, and neon candy canes come out. Any other colors not so good.

why don't you just go with a 10k with actinic supplement?

thats what i wanted to do origionally but then my light didnt work so i figured if im gonna spend the money to buy a light why not just go up to a 12-14k
however i just got home to test out the light i bought
it wont fire i need a new ballest :-(

I ran a 400 Watter (15K XM) over a frag tank for a little while). Growth was poor, color was funky. I agree with others, stick to the 10K's for the XM's...an inexpensive and powerful bulb.
