For a higher dose of Mag to kill bryopsis it has to be Kent liquid magnesium. I used that stuff and it worked pretty good. I don't remember 100% what level to keep it at but IIRC it was 1500-1600. People weren't having as good of success with othe forms of magnesium even if they kept the dose high FWIW...

thanks. i think i am going to try this. i guess i will use the kent

the dosing of mag worked. i also manually removed as much as i could as often as i could but it is now gone! the other major change was from gravity dripping kalkwasser to a feed pump controlled by the apex. the control is amazing one can control a pump down to the second. the advantages are that i can get the bucket off of my work table in the fish room and i now have the ability to turn the dosing off and on remotely (iphone coming Saturday). the disadvantage is i now have another small pump to clean regularly. i plan on upgrading this to a peristaltic pump at some point.

looking great Chris!

I got a parastalic pump for dosing kalkwasser ( thanks Greg). It is controlled through the apex and have it dosing about 90 ml every 1/2 hour. It is pulling from a 5 gallon reservoir ( aka bucket:-).

I'm somewhat new to this, so I'm curious why you dose kalk if you have a calcium reactor. Wouldn't the reactor provide sufficient calcium?

When I stop dosing kalkwasser I cannot maintain my alkalinity

It is. Kalk solution has an alk of about 11 dkh. If you added it fast enough it would raise in the display. This is one of the reasons mall is more used to maintain calcium rather than raise it

is anyone using the tappatalk app for forum viewing here? i got the other day and think i like it so far. certainly easier then trying to view the standard forum on safari (iphones web browser)

I use skyfire for droid.works really well
