My zoas are all half open and the skirts have basically died or gotten very skinny. My rock flower has also done the same thing. I just did a water change but my nitrates are still high so I will do another one.

FWIW I don't think those nitrate numbers are high for a relatively new'ish tank that hasn't been established for years. Plenty of people have successful reef tanks with higher nitrates than that.

I would guess it's more of a lighting, flow or somethings picking on them issue...

I just added a new powerhead which is more flow should I turn it down.

How old is the lighting? What do you have for a clean up crew? How many fish? How much are you feeding? Where do you get your water from, PPM of water? Does you water look clear?

I am using an ai prime, I have five astrea snails. 3 fish. I get my water from a science lab so I don’t think that’s the problem. Yes I also run carbon so my water looks clear.

Did you end up dipping them in hydrogen peroxide? I have hair algae on my bam bam zoas and it’s making them close up and not grow, thinking about dipping in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water for 5-10 minutes.

I did end up dipping them, for one minute and it got rid of the algae. I did not lose any. They are still mad but I’m think it’s from the bacteria.
