help with bulb selection.

I'm going to be buying a t5 fixture that has 6 bulbs and I'm having a hard time figuring out the last 2 bulbs to get. I'm getting these bulbs so far

2 aquablue special
1 fiji purple
1 blue plus


I'm looking for a kind of 14k look but also making all colors pop.

It says that it promotes coral growth. So I think those will be my last 2 bulbs. What order do you guys think I should put them in?

You need that 420nm spike!

When it first came out, it was touted for the true 420nm and the PAR level. It was better than ATI and Geismann. I haven't checked what's the latest ATI or Geismann have to offer. I use what works for me.

I will look deeper into this. I've just recently purchased a handful of 54w ATI bulbs for my 90, and am not getting the results I had hoped for.

ATI bulbs are very reputable and known to be excellent for reef. I highly doubt changing one or two ATI actinic to UVL will solve your problem.
The actinic is more for detail of your corals like deeper florescence.

Which is exactly what I am NOT getting.

I have a 4 bulb unit with a Coral+, true actinic, blue+, purple+ in that order as well as an extra blue+. I can't seem to find a combination of these bulbs that suite my needs. I need more of that florescence, I'm greedy. The tank is very white and very hard to photograph.




I've debated about trying to supplement with a blue LED, but the money is flat out insane.

Its all in what you like but I very much dislike the ATI "Purple Plus" its far more orange than purple when I purchased one I thought it would be more like an actinic.

Keep the halide. 14k phoenix bulb. 2 x true actinics 2x purple plus. I used this setup, and it was great.
