How often to feed nori?

Platehead

Non-member
120 gallon mixed reef . Chevron tang and a fox face. 2 clowns, and a few other fish. Been feeding 1/2 sheet in the am and either pellets or LRF in the pm. Is this excessive?

Thx

Not if they eat it....My Clowns eat the Nori also surprised me a little.

I had 6 tangs in my tank and I found the more I fed Fresh live macro and Nori the less aggressive they were toward each other . . In the wild Tangs fight over territory for food . and a big school can pick the reef clean in no time . So I say feed em a lot

All my fish eat it except for my mandarin but only after my foxface murders the sheet. So unless it floats around the tank to rot then feed them as much as you like

Tell me about it.
Remember the large amount of live algae I got from you? All gone.

When you guys are talking "a sheet" are you referring to a piece about 8"x8" that's the size I get, I never feed the whole thing at a time I cut the sheets into four pieces.

Yup. I pre-cut the sheets into quarters. Even that, I fold the quarter several time and clip it on the clipper. The fish tend to make a mess if I just hang the sheet.

I cut mine into 1/4 sheets then roll it tightly and elastic band it to a small rock and lower to the sand bed, the rock has a line attached to retrieve it.

i use to feed my tangs about 2 whole sheets a day
warped around my mag float with a rubber band and they used to pick on it all day .
after work i use to feed then again a fish goo i made a home trying to copy the one we did on one of the BRs meetings with ,a combination fresh clams, pellets, worms, flakes , frozen brine, mysis, fresh wild caught tuna, some live worms, raw shrimp, fish vitamins ,gonipowder, garlic , corals supplements , vitamins and bunch of other stuff i cant remember .
again they where about 6 to 7 tangs all big and bunch of other fish all big and fat . so i used to feed a lot . about 3 times a day or every time i thou they look hungry.
i had a kick a** skimmer and a algae scrubber to take care nutrients so i never had problems with algae or anything with my water parameters

We only have one juvenile yellow tang, but if I put a 1"x4" cut piece of nori on a clip it's always gone > 24 hours (clowns may eat some as well, snails, etc) most days.
