Anyone have a working reeflo hammerhead pump?
As it has for many times over the years. My main pump has a problem. Reeflo hammerhead is leaking (Probably a seal).
I have no backup anymore. Its been a fish only with live rock for years since my last pump failure and subsequent SPS crash.

Top of the list of fish and only real reason I kept tank going is premium frostbite clownfish. And her average snowflake mate.
tang Also Mature Biota Yellow tang, dark blackish scotas tang , flameback angel , tail bristletooth tang, Purple pseudochromis, a file fish .

Have to make a decision Get a new pump fast. Give up and find a home or downsize quick with a new complete system.
Not up for work of a new system I think.

Sorry to hear that, i’ve been using Jebao pump for many years and they are working well. There’s DCP-20000 you can get from amazon for last than $200 i think which similarly rated to your pump maybe?

let us know if you find a pump. I have a brand new DCP-10000 not in use at the moment waiting for new tank. I’m in Lynn shoot me a message. i’ll just order a new one I have some time.

Jebaos are great return pumps. I bought one for $75 on amazon while ecotech serviced (again) my $350 vectra. The temporary jebao has been running for years with no issues.

Changing pumps style is not an easy thing. The plumbing is tight and it is a 25+ foot run from basement up to first floor half way across the house from Rubbermaid sump. Found a home somewhere to hold the fish if they make it till tomorrow. But I think this is it for me and saltwater. Gone through 3+ pumps on this setup and just not worth it for a fish only anymore.

Not sure why I am not listed as a paid member. Have been dormant user for many years but maybe the auto renew thing stopped some how. I always just let it renew memberships to support the site even though was not active or logged in. It was a good club way back then in early 2Ks . There are many old time members here that know me and I am not a seller more a giver. So I reach out to them if I have stuff to get rid off. I already have temp home for fish if they make the trip tomorrow.

Is there anyway you can rig something up with a submersible style pump that can be housed out of water and flexible hosing with barb fittings?

The hammerhead pump you mentioned looks like a standard centrifugal pump with an AC motor attached to the pump head. I wonder if you can find a generic purpose centrifugal pump with similar horsepower and flow rate for the meantime, while you get your pump replacement that's more saltwater oriented. Maybe check hardware store or plumbing supply store? Harbor freight may even have a few cheap ones. Or check local marine/boat supply stores, generally they make similar pump for boats to pump water overboard, those should be rated for marine corrosion specs.

The generic ones are generally cast iron, and will rust overtime. But for a short period I think it'll hold okay, and since you are fish only, they prob don't mind a slight bit of iron leeching. It's a risk but may be worth?

Thank You, I have someone to hold my fish for extended time if needed. I will be transporting them tomorrow if all goes OK. Have an understand sump that's been offered to me also. I already started tearing display rock out to catch fish. Once fish are safe I will decide weather to rebuild with new in stand sump or call it quits. Will still have to tear down the 100 gallon sump and three refugium's too. After all these years who knows what bottom of those basement tanks will be like.

Fresh water may be an option too just to keep my 120 display but having been salt water since the 90's maybe taking a break from the hobby better choice. The clean up work alone is daunting.

Save the fish first, Then cleanup, Then decide on how to keep or get rid of the tank

Its the reeflo seal known issue. Can be repaired or refurbished but I am done with 2 story setup. Probably time for me to quit after 30 years.

It's never easy dealing with all the issues this hobby comes with but it's also not as easy to leave it. But if it ever comes to finding the fish a permanent home, i have a 200 that I'd be willing to home them into.
