I got curious about Ryan Batcheller's new subscription-based reef site, Serious Reefs, so I bit the bullet and signed up for a few months. Gotta' say, it's quite a bit better than I expected. It's quickly obvious that they aren't hawking any particular brands or worried about upsetting sponsors or any corporate overlords. Their videos aren't on YouTube so they aren't slaves to the algorithm so, for instance, with product reviews they usually tell you their conclusions up front since they have no incentive to get you to watch until the end.

It's actually very refreshing.

Yeah, Ryan was the (one of the?) founders of Bulk Reef Supply. But he's no longer associated with them, as far as I know.

I thought they were on YouTube? Or maybe some are subscription only?

Ah, you're right, they are on YouTube as well as their own site, but you do have to be a paying subscriber to see the content there. They're making their money from subscriptions not from YouTube views.

He sold BRS to the people that own ecotech and a couple other brands from what I read recently.

I was a member for a few months but the content just didnt excite me so i bowed out. I do like what they are doing though and the objective info presented. Ryan and Elliot are a wealth of information
