Sitting here at the computer and I hear a pop from the fish room. Not a good sound, lights just went out. Think OMG tank is cracked, well almost just as bad UV light cover on my Aquamedic MH pendant shattered. Got most of the glass out of the tank. Now what, not even sure where to get one. I looked and saw Flighty had same problem maybe she or other's can chime in.

Tanya, the same thing happened to me last year. I called Aquamedic and they fedex'd one out to me. It was cheap - like $10 or $20 I think.

Thanks Daire, I will give them a call in the morning and cross my fingers. Otherwise I will be at the glass store.

Call Aqua Medic direct 970-461-0023 ask for Jason Breeding. I had an oring issue on my skimmer and he got my replacement parts cheaper than other websites and quicker. I recommend calling them direct.

I had the same thing happen to me with a nother brand light, this was an hqi, I wasnt home when the glass broke. The intencity of the light without the glass fried everthing under it even the thermostat probe wire hanging over the edge of the tank,im talking that this sucker almost caught on fire! dont run the light! call them they should rush the gass out to you. The company that made my unit said the light was engineered wrong and the hqi bulb was to close to the glass wich caused it to break. I sent them a few pix of the damaged corals and the wire that almost ignited and they sent me the next generation light no charge! Picking glass shards out of a reef tank sucks. im sure you know this though. I would think after seeing that, that the glass they use is possibly special not just ordinary glass.Chip

Thanks everyone and Daire, I have not only one but 2 on the way just incase my fish decide to splash again i have a backup. It's going to take a couple days he said so in the meantime do you think my tank will be ok with just the 1 250Mh hanging in the middle. I only have a 55g but it's deep and has the center brace that's why I have the 2 250's.

It should be fine with just 1 250 for a few days. Just acclimate the inhabitants to the new light when it arrives. You shouldn't have to do a "full" acclimation, but I would hang it a little higher or use a screen for a few days.
