Thanks NonMouse: That is some great info and a good resource forum.

I am spending my day reading books and finding info. So that when the eggs arrive here tomorrow night I have everything ready to go.

I like that fish bowl technique for hatching the eggs. I wonder if I should go get 1 of those.

For transporting these guys would you all think something like a white 5 gallon bucket wrapped in a black trash bag with the top left with the white cover showing would be the best thing to do. Also with an air pump running.

Bad news, I woke up to no eggs today. They hatched a day early, maybe because of the higher temperature of the water the past few days

I'm sorry I got you all ready for nothing, but I can try to get them to lay on the same object and see if we have a batch ready to go again in 12 days. I will know in a few days if they pick the same spot.

It is a bummer, I looked at them last night and they didn't look like it was time, but I guess they had different ideas. I'll keep you posted on the next batch

Once they hatch, the tank becomes a feeding frenzy for the little ones. Not too mention if any do survive it would be nearly impossible to find any of them to get them out.

Usually clownfish eggs hatch after dark. It's pretty rare that the fish eat many of them, but corals and other things I'm sure feast. You can actually collect them pretty successfully from the water column if you do it immediately after they hatch. They are attracted to light.

After clowns hatch, they cannot find food in an ordinary reef tank. None will survive.

They are also so delicate that powerheads or going in the overflow kills them. Their eyes work in a way that any light from the side blinds them and they can not see to eat even if there was food in our tanks for them. It is quite a challenge to create the conditions that they can survive in.

The clowns are still cleaning and defending the same nest site so maybe they will lay there again.

I do not think I am dedicated enough for that.
I think if I did not get the eggs out before they hatch I would not have the patience to catch them 1 by 1. All the while sounding like Carolann from poltergeist saying go into the light...GO INTO THE LIGHT.

Plus I did reed in an article from F. Marinni that shinning a light into the fry's eye will lessen their survival rates, and possible blind them as Cindy mentioned.

Projected hatch is the night of Tuesday the 22nd. In the past they have been exactly 8 days until hatching and alternating 12 and 13 days between batches.
