What's everyone using for new Sand?

I need to start a new tank with new sand just wondering what everyone is using brandwise these days. Kinda out of the loop:o

I'm still using some left over southdown but I'm pretty sure there is a good sand at HD called "High Desert Play Sand".

I use ocean direct brand sand, cleaned in a 5g bucket and sifted through a fish net to pull out debris. It's about $37 for a 40lb bag.

I have about 160+ lbs. of this in my display and another 20+ lbs. in my refugium and have never had any issues. It's very white and is calcium based(bubbles under vinegar).I have never had any issues with nitrate, have yet to register any.:D

Bob,
How long has your tank been set up? with no problems.

My 55 gallon ran for a year before I upgraded to my 90 gallon.:D
Then I just bought 2 more bags and added enough to have 4-5 inches in the display and fug.
You have to rinse the crap out of it first, about 20-30 lbs. at a time til it runs clear. This last time I used ro/di for the final rinse.

I use Water change water to rinse it.
