Just found my refugium light on my 29 gal in the refugium, I have no idea how long it was in there. everything if slimming like crazy, the clowns are ok they were swimming kinda crazy but settling down. I did a water change, changed the poly filter and carbon. Amonia, nitrite and nitrates are fine so far. Will they all be ok? I think the clowns are mad cause the frog spawn and hammer they sleep in are closed up.

just a few volts in the tank lol hope every thing is ok

Thanks for responses. The tank is very cloudy this morning, Amonia, nitrate, nitrites still 0. Still did another 8 gal water change. Clowns still seem ok, Turned on the actinics the corals are starting to peak out...

Haha that's what happened to me. Only I was cleaning the diatoms off the glass and hit the light in by accident. The whole light fell in and I instantly stuck my arm in the tank and grabbed the light haha so I was getting zapped and yelling, so my bf came over and unplugged everything LOL it was plugged into a surge protector and it didn't shut off. I just wanted to save my fish. My clown and crabs are all ok tho. I'm surprised the poor things didn't have heart attacks

wow your lucky.. voltage dosnt really matter much yeah i mean it does mater... but the amps is whats the life threating part of electircity if you have a very small ammount of amps or a high ammount of amps it can kill you but theres a happy medium for everything i guess...

update

The tank is still cloudy; nitrites and nitrates still 0 amonia is 0.5. I have done total 12 gal water change in 18 hrs, the tank is 29 gal; should I do another now. So far only loss is a black sea urchin...corals are still closed up. Thanks

i would stuff it with carbon.

im not so sure that changing your water would help save anything if they got shocked (electricity) theres not much changing water can do unless theres somthing im not really getting out of this if im wrong someone tell me why because i would like to understand the concept

Thanks for chiming in.. I was hoping to keep ahead of amonia spikes by removing shocked corals as they decade and doing water changes as necessary but I didn't want to over do it with water change for fear the tank would start to cycle.

Yes,keep changing out water and monitoring ammonia.Things should begin to clear up soon.

Tank is doing great, just a little cloudy. Corals are starting to open. No other casualties :) :.
Thanks again for the input!

That's good.:)
Perhaps there wasn't much of a ground,so the shock was minimal.

Im glad everything is ok! I was scared that my fish got shocked from the light falling in for a second.. saltwater conducts electricity very well. Poor things swimming in that for who knows how long must have been horrible. good luck with everything

glad things are looking better

would a grounding rod have helped?

I have a ground in my big tank..the small always seems to take the backburner..I hadn't checked the light for awhile..this tank seems to hold it's own..not much mantainance, the cheato in the refugium was right up to the top..thinking maybe it shifted the light slightly and maybe caused this.. burner..
