ok my zoos and palys are not doing good most are closed up if not closed only open half way except for my montazumas... My Acans seem fine and my dendros are great! My dunkins are barely even starting to open...

Amonia- .25 or less
trates- not even 5
trites- 0
calc 520
alk 10
mag 1550

Can somebody please tell me whats going on???
On a side note I just started dosing Iodide tonight and do not have a test kit for it.. was told that poss this is whats wrong...

520 is way too high. 400-450 is the window.

1550 is boarderline high as well.

i'd recommend doing a water change to bring calc down. also, consider light position and water current. medium light + medium flow i found to be best for my palys. zoas dont care where they are for me.

You should have 0 for ammonia always.Or something has died or is dying in your tank.

You should not have any ammonia in there.

If you have strong flow on your zoas, In my experience, the will close up. Make sure they don't have direct flow.

the amonia could be 0 for all I know sometimes all the colors look the same and I have a hard time judging it.. My GSM died a few days ago but the prob with the corals has been going on before the GSM passing...

Your calcium is quite high,I'm surprised that you can maintain a alk of 10 dkh.
But I'll bet it's due to the high Mg.
The Mg. is not really a problem,as are the other numbers, except the ammonia.

how long has the tank been running?

What's GSM...(green star Monster)?

I was also in a local LFS a few weeks ago and was told that 450 was low for calc and should be 500 or over.....

Once in awhile my zoas and palys will close up as well. I wouldn't do anything sudden changes. Just let everything come down naturally. Like Bob said, did anything recently die in the tank. If so, I would remove it right away.

I wouldn't add anything to the tank unless you were able to test for it.

I cant go bad mouthing them.. all the other help I have got from them seems to be very good...

Phew,I hope so.
Just trying to figure out what might have happened.
That's one thing that becomes addictive in this hobby,"why did that happen?".If we could all figure it out, there would be no reason for these boards.lol:)

gold stripe maroon clown???

Oh,that other monster.
What could have made that fish die?
Those are very hardy creatures.Possibly an ammonia spike?
Was this tank properly cycled? One always has to ask these questions.

yeah.. it has been up and running for a while now prob close to 6-7 months.. Maybe I under fed??? I was feeding lightly every other day to every 3 days...
