Bulb overall length?

Trying to find out an exact length of a 54w " 48" " t5 bulb with GLO caps? I've gotten different answers on this so trying to get to the bottom of it. Trying to decide between 39W and 54W, would rather go 54w if it'll fit in my fixture. Fixtures overall usable space is 47-1/4".

I would think they should be the same length, though I am sure you could get specs at any lighting suppliers website

I knew the bulbs were that long, not sure how much to add for the GLO end caps though? the 45.8ish, would leave me just under 1.5" left for the caps.

Just realized that.

Are you referring to some kind of retro GLO kit, or an assembled fixture?

This may not be much help, but a pair of standard waterproof endcaps add slightly under an inch to the length of the bulb, or a pair of non-waterproof "tombstone" endcaps add less than 1/2"

Not sure if you are set on the Hagen retro, but personally I would go with something more reputable anyway :) (Hagen sells LOTS of fish stuff, but in general they are pretty low end petco comsumer kind of quality IMO)

i have a glo retro. the caps stick out about 1/2" from the bulb, so it will be a tight fit, but you should be able to squeeze it in there. if not, you could always cut off the end caps and use regular end caps like everyone else mentioned.

You should just make it.I have the glo retro and it measures approx 46.75" end to end.

I'm impressed with the quality for the money ($50)comes prewired with waterproof endcaps and e ballast.

Fair enough. I'm biased against the company's products in general, but maybe they got this one right :)
