Modding a phos/carbon reactor 4 Bio-Pellets

For those who don't want to buy a Bio-Pellet Reactor . U cannot use sponges as the bacteria will clog .Set them aside in a fish junk bin or container . U will not need them . So here is good work around. This way you do not lose the pellets in your sump or tank if you used HOT mode .

Items Needed

Phos or Carbon Reactor . In this case a Next-Reef Carbon MR-1 is used

A pair of Scissors .

Go to Michaels Craft Store and buy 2 or 3 Darice 6 " circles used in needle work .

An extra one is helpful if you make mistakes .

12 Small Zip Ties / Found at Lowes .

Take the reactor apart . Pull one of the plates out .

Take the six inch ring and lay the plate over it . Line it up .

Take a pair of scissors and cut to form and cut out the inner circle so the pipe will fit through

U will end up with something like this .

Add zip ties to four points .

Cut off the ties

Do the other one . Make sure the new parts are facing each other and put the reactor back together . Bottom plate mesh on top . Top plate mesh on bottom .


This is how the bottom plate should be facing . Mesh up . This was before the inner ring was trimmed.
