Ouch! That hurt..
It was meant as gallows humor, not as a low blow. Losses like CS' and T's make me ill. I've had crashes myself.....they're like a shot to the gut. http://www.bostonreefers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=49168
They just suck. I never even figured out why mine even happened. There's nothing left to do but try and contain the damage.
It was meant as no more than the same effort as humor as someone who said that thousands of dollars of CS' dead sps was now 'reactor media'.
Sorry if offense was taken....none was meant...ever.

Just to clarify...I took it as a joke as well...specially since I did the same with your string of crummy luck for a bit..I needed the smile-thank you. Humor is one of the best things to get through anything-use it! embrace it! My reply was meant as "Oh no you didn't...ok you did....busted by my previous remarks to you."
I really didn't feell I needed to post this at all-Jay has been very very helpful to me always..and I know he is a great reefer. Thanks man...and yeah it does suck-I guess that means my gills are finally starting to get a bit wet.

Sorry Jay: I find it very difficult to decipher the jokes sometimes especially gallows humor. I have not had a chance to speak to you much in person so I did not know what your angle was. I felt extremely bad for Tabittha and C.S. for their crashes and maybe I was looking to defend them on this. So glad that it was me just reading it wrong.

Uh huh...I hate NSTAR and my apartment complex!I thought I would feel better if I vented...it only makes me sadder..yesterday power out at around 10am. I am notified at approx 3pm and spent the night with no power-it was restored around 2pm TODAY!(BTW-according to NSTAR that is fast as humanly possible
Lowest temp was 68-and stayed there for quite a while...looks like water chnage city for the weekend for me. I owuld ask why me-but I know it's irony that I finally went grocery shopping and put non-fish stuff in the fridge or freezer

Where in Burlington are you? I am in Burlington myself and didnt have an outage in my community. Sucks either way, I think this is my biggest fear right now and I dont even know how to begin to plan for an emergancy like that. Goodluck!

For the record, I wasn't in the least bit offended by Jay's comment and didn't think it was mean spirited....
IMO, one of the best things about this forum, other than the massive amount of combined reef experience, is that it is a place to share the triumphs and vent / commiserate about the inevitable losses that almost always accompany this hobby. It's helpful (at least to me) to feel some of the 'BRS love' when something bad happens......I've also taken my share of teasing and lumps. My SOH can be dry and sarcastic....to those of you that do know me, you know I'm a merciless tease, to those of you that don't, I **NEVER** mean anything malicious.

as the other guy who made a little joke in this thread (and in CS's thread...and, well, in most threads I participate in), I'll echo this sentiment.
I'm sort like Chandler making jokes at usually inappropriate times to add levity, never to offend.
In any forum I find that I do well to always assume the better of what anyone says, even if it comes off poorly.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the support here and through pm. I apologize for not answering them all-it was a bit depressing after a while-and I needed to just focus on the good stuff!..Yeah I have benn just kinda lurking lately(I guess my own way of pouting). things are going well, no more fish losses(most likely due to human error) and most of the corals are doing well-keep glue on hand!
Jimmy that battery pack looks pretty nice-I'll have to look into things like this more and get myself prepared. It wasn't a power outage in Burlington...just at the apt complex(and only selected apts

Scott, I'll check with renters' insurance on da salmon, but I think they will only constitute as one loss unless I can present a very persuasive arguement. Whatdya think a "LE triple death smokey salmon" would fetch on ebay?
With all of that-moving on and hopefully ahead. I'm off to get find some "protection" just in case
