Sorry for not updating you all on this, but I had a small problem with my other tank that kept me away from the boards for a while...the link above can be used to follow the progress...I am about 85% complete with the system...mostly small stuff to wrap up...

PS anyone know how long it takes for your sand to settle..LOL I am at one day and it is getting better...but I am impatient!!!!

Jason

Looking killer Jay!

Great progress!

One question: how are you going to prime the closed-loop, since you have it going up and over the edge of the tank?

Nuno

Dang, Jason, that looks awesome. I love the lights on rails.

Looks great Jason :) Are you going with a shallow sand bed?
-Liam.

Thanks all..it is really coming along...

nuno: the closed loop is self priming, the water drains into the pump and equalizes the lines from the over flow...I did find one problem with this design though that I am working out right now...if all the power is lost the closed loop drains back to the overflow and then drains to the sump...so i am going to have to add syphon breaks or check valves in the lines, no biggie, but other than that it works great. PS..i picked up my camera pakage..i got the D-70s..oh man is it sweet...thanks for the help...)

Liam...Shallow sand bed, about 2" in the tank and then about 3 inches in the fuge...

I will post again when I update the pictures...maybe tonight or this weekend...

Jason

Just updated the website, LIGHTS ARE ON!!!!!!!!! I got the Refuge filled and some Chaeto in it...now down to the details...setting up controllers, strapping wires etc.

I measures parameters yesterday...

NH4+ - None detectible
pH 8.1
Ca 400

I am going to check Nitrite and Nitrate today...and see if I get any cycle from the lights...I may be able to transfer the contents of my 55 much sooner than expected....

I might steal your idea for the lights...I just got my 400W Mh's for my 300 and been banging my head trying to figure out how to mount them...

So i can move them out of the way for tank maint.

I wonder how much weight those hangers are good for?

Each roller track will hold (2) 60 lb doors, so each track holds 120 lbs...way less than the light fixture i made, that weighs about 25 lbs tops...
