Aiptasia Question

I have been noticing some Aiptasia popping up in one of my tanks, any solutions on how to go about ridding this stuff? I don't like it! LOL, I want to nip it in the bud before it gets out of control. TIA

Peppermint shrimp LOVE them! However, in my experience, they only like the small one's. You have to 'delete' the large one's yourself. I have a great method for doing that (thanks to B).
Get some Kalkwasser and make a thick paste (around toothpaste consistency). No need to inject the aptasia with it, as irritated aptasia are likely to spew spores of baby aptasia everywhere. What I found to be the best and quickest way, is to first feed the tank with something good and stinky then 'feed' the paste to the aptasia with an aptasia applicator. The aptasia will willingly eat it thinking it's food, and die before it knows what happened. Then you can suction up the aptasia with a turkey baster after it has melted.

Once you get rid of the large ones, the peppermint shrimps will do the rest.

Thanks Gina, what an interesting technique. I'll make up a batch tomorrow and give it a try! Thanks alot!:)

Cool -- Keep us posted!

Another method is to completely engulf the aptasia in the paste and wait. It will melt on it's own.

I will, I'll post an update after I have finished! Oh, and I guess I should buy a couple of peppemint shrimp too. I don't have any, oh geez, guess I have to buy something new for the tank lol! :D

Hahaha! Ya - Oh Darn! :D

How big is your tank? If you have a large tank, you may need several.
