Ok - strange questions. I have been VERY sick from zoa poisoning, and I have eradicated most of them from my tank during the last move. However, they seem to be coming back! SO - I was wondering if anybody has any zoanthid-eating nudibranchs. I'd be happy to PAY FOR YOUR PESTS! Or any other suggestions would be welcome as well. :)

Thanks!

Wow, I didn't realize zoas were bad too. I thought it was just palys, but after a bit of research, I am more aware of zoas. What keeps coming back? If they are brown palys, please let me know if you find a way to get rid of them. I have been battling them for years. I put a paly covered rock in a bucket of just tap water, and they are still alive 5 days later. Too bad I can't turn them into gasoline or something useful. Glad you are feeling better.

You can always boil the rock... That should do the trick... I plan on doing that when I have a chance to clean up my tank as I have a rock that's covered with them and I want them gone...

They are exactly what you describe - brown, ugly... I thought they were zoas, maybe they are palys? Not sure how to distinguish. And I guess if they are palys the nudibranchs wouldn't work, would they? Argh! The rock boiling is DANGEROUS. I read that's how some ended up at the hospital - it releases all the toxins in the air. And besides, I have all my sps on these rocks, so it's not feasible. I got rid of all the rocks that were covered, plucked all the remaining ones, grilled some rocks (yep, grilled!). The tank was CLEAN for a few months. Now I've noticed 4 or 5 popping back up. Grrrrrr...

By the way - I got sick by using a cooking torch on them. NEVER DO IT! It was very stupid of me. Had a temp of 103.8 and shivered uncontrollably for several hours. Quite a scare! And after that, I've gotten sick even wearing gloves. They're awful suckers.

I always bleach the brown paly rocks when I can, but sometimes you just can't take the rock out. Sometimes I pluck them with tweezers off the base rock, but never more than a dozen at a time because I know how much stuff they release in the water. If anyone ever tries to pull them off a rock out of the water, make sure the paly is pointing downwards because they can squirt quite a distance.
