Anyone know anything about buffing out acrylic

JTM4UG

REEFER
I bought all the equipment and im still having troubles getting the plastic crystal clear
I have used 400 wet dry paper, 600 wet dry paper, plastic buffing compound with sponge drill attachment, finally plastic polish
It took alot of the scratches out but the larger ones can still be seen, should I sand more and give it another try or should I just use the sponge and compound longer
TIA

You need to keep on sanding till the large/deep scratches are gone. Then buff out all the small scratches from the sand paper

keep sanding, but as you do that, keep moving outward away from the scratch. that was you don't get bowing look to the tank. start with 400, 600 , 1000, 1500, then 2000 grit paper. then use acrylic polisher. i forget the name of it but it's a three step polish, rub it on and buff it off. good luck.

Don't bother with 400 or 600 to start, you will just make more of a mess. Start with 800 or 1000 and end with 3000. Then use the acrylic polish.

I think the three step stuff is Nouvus? I got some in Revere at a tanning bed supply store. Also I think if you are going to sand 600 and 800 are to rough. I have a polishing kit that starts at 800 and goes up to 12000.

Good Luck Derek
