question1: where does the ballast go? can it be inside the cabnet or does it need air flow??

question 2: where can i get a biocube fuge light for the back? i cant find it the on the net anywere.

Question 3: how long after i get the tank set up should i add chaeto to the fuge? ( set up as salt mixed, live rock in and live sand )

Question 4: i want to upgrade the return pump ( if thats what is called ) what would work directly?

#1 I would put the ballast on the floor maybe not in the cabinet since it needs air to keep it cool.

#2 you can use any light for the back fuge, jbj makes a LED fuge light or your can use a underwater light etc...

#3 you can actually put it in anytime! :)

#4 Maxijet's will work anything with a 1\4" (I think) that would fit the tubing

don't worry you will have fun with that tank :)

one more question.

i would like to some type ofr moonlight mod, or buy a moonlight.....any sugestions?

thank you for the help

I wouldn't worry about upgrading the return pump, but rather adding an intank powerhead.

For the light, if you do want the actual Oceanic one, I don't think they released it yet. Although I have seen pictures from them that show one mounted on the tank.

You could make a moon light setup and mount it in the hood, but your the only one with the HQI I've talked to, so your going to have to look at what you got and see if you can find a place to mount 2 or 3 leds.

i personally think that would be too bright for a moonlight..how big is your tank? it would probabaly be too bright for a 29 cube.

people use underwater halogens for fuge lights, they do add a little heat to the water though so consider that.

powerbrite isn't too bright... I have 2 over my 12g aquapod
I would swap out the stock return pump why? because it will draw too much heat into the tank since your tank isn't open top and has MH on it.
swap the pump out for a maxijet900 or 1200

wow guys thanks alot for the super fast replies! very helpful.

i want to get a chiller ( weather i need one or i dont i still want one )
but i wount beable to get it till about mid june-ish. think it would be ok to set up and run the tank till then then i could install the chiller?

Also how many fish should be MAXIMUN in 29 gallon bio cube? i dont want a large bio load deffenrly dont want to be over stocked. just trying to plan ahead to minimize mistakes that could be made.

yup! run the tank now... you need some time for the tank to cycle even if you put everything live in there (live sand, live rock)

I run my Aquapod 12 with 70w MH with the glass cover and my temp is at a steady 78.9F all day all night
