BRS Mar 2007 meeting (featuring James Fatheree)

Moe_K

Stabbed by Foulke
The next meeting for the Boston Reefers' Society will be:
12:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday 31Mar2007.

The location for the meeting is:
Bridgewater Veterans Club
85 Cottage St, Bridgewater, MA

(This is a much bigger venue than we've used the past few months. 200 people should fit comfortably. There's a bar in an adjacent room - may help keep things quiet for the presentations)

Click here for a link to a map.

Our guest speaker is James Fatheree, who will give us a presentation on keeping clams in the aquairum, and how to take decent pictures of your tank. Here's a link to more info about James: http://www.fatherree.com/james/
More details to follow.

James has agreed to join a tank tour if we put something together for Sunday morning, the 1st of April. Probably should be in the South Shore area, since that's where he'll be staying, and he'll need to get back to Logan at the end of the tour. We're asking for volunteers to help organize the tank tour. Please give us a shout if you'd like to participate and help. We'll start another thread for the tank tour.

Of course we'll have our usual frag swap at the end of the meeting, and will probably have a raffle or something. More details to follow.

Late Edit by Greg H.:

Also, one of our sponsors, Coral Reef Aquarium, will have a table at this meeting.

Another late edit by Greg H:

Detailed schedule which we will try to stick to:

12:00-12:30 PM Meet and greet - new member signups, library stuff, time to purchase BRS coffee mugs, hats calenders, browse CRA's table

12:30-1:00 PM or so - Announcements and more time for library and stuff, raffle tix for sale

1:00 PM - 2:15 PM (Pizza intermission for 20 minutes somewhere in here)- speaker

2:15-4:00 PM Raffle drawing, frag swap mayhem, tank water testing, potential skimmer modification demo, more time to check out books, browse CRA's table, or hang out and chat reefs

Reminder: we try our best to keep the meeting on time, but there are a lot of things that are out of our control, so the times are subject to change, do not take these times as gospel please.

I forgot to mention:
Yes, it's easy to join the BRS at the meetings. There will be a table right up front. Just talk to Paul (PenMan) and company, and they'll hook you up.

I'll post a bio for our guest speaker in a couple of days.

You wanna start a fire? Bring out the Hellmans. ;)

Nice…This one is a ride but not too bad. About 45 minutes from me. I am very interested in the topic. Going to see if I can schedule some time for myself in order to attend my first BRS meeting.

I thought I was the mayo demo expert.

Count me in as a host for tank tour 4/1. (I'll supply bagels, butter and creamcheese to start the day)

"expert" is not how i would describe it:rolleyes:

I added a link to the first post for more info on our guest speaker.

Any chance we can purchase his new book (group buy) at the meeting from him?
Yes. It needs to be arranged quickly, though, so James has time to receive the order and bring the books.
We'll need a Project Manager for this and a new thread. Any volunteers?

Last time at Liam's, there was a hypothesis that mayo will act like lighter fluid.
Turns out, that's not the case. :p
