Captive raised Goniopora

I recently got a captive raised (frag) Goniopora. it is on a frag plug and is looking dome-shape, pretty nice!

i placed it inside the 1" pipe and seat it on the sand, the frag plug itself doesnt sit sturdy enough on the sand that is why i use the 1" pipe.

i placed it at a moderate current flow area, moderate to low. tank is 120gal (4x2x2) with 2-250w MH.

the question i have is: DO i need to target feed this guy? i sure hope not as i dont target feed my corals

any tips as to how i would make this coral continue to thrive?

Hi! I wouldn't bother feeding it. Just my opinion. They are tough to keep tho. Just keep your parameters straight. you have good lighting, it should thrive! Good Luck

hi thanks for the reply, i forgot to mention i dont measure my parameters either

Frogs, hammer, leathers and anemones are all doing good, knock on wood. so if the lps are doing good can i assume its also ok for the new goni? this thing is not glued to the frag plug, it has grown onto the frag plug and is part of the frag plug so i have a good start, i am just wondering if he will continue to thrive in my tank....given the specs above, or lack there of

All I know is they can be challenging to keep. I wont challenge your tank husbandry. I check my alk, Cal and Mag on a monthly basis just for my own piece of mind. If all your other corals look good you must be doing something right

What color,if it is green it won't last long

They are very unforgiving as far as parms go

I experiment with these a lot

They aren't softies

How long was it in the person's tank you got it from?
